Birmingham City Council appears to have made the decision that many Blue Chip Companies have done in the past, in an effort to cut costs. Birmingham City Council appear to be launching a joint venture with out-sourcing firm Capita, which plans to export IT, human resources, payroll and finance posts to India. The plans appear to be to move 55 back-office posts overseas this summer and a further 45 by the end of the year.
The council said it was a matter for Service Birmingham, where a spokesman said that as the authority’s partner, it needed to offer “cost savings and efficiency gains while maintaining our existing service levels”.
Many businesses are faced with challenges in todays economic climate and some of the decisions are very difficult to make when you are a much smaller company than Birmingham City Council.
An accountancy practice may not be the first place you would seek advice but here at March Engenus we have a wealth of experience in assisting businesses of all sizes to grow and develop in a challenging and moving market place.
It will be interesting to see how this benefits the customers of Birmingham City Council and which other Councils will follow suit.
